Hay School Development on the BBC

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-mid-wales-16158458

Here's the link to the BBC news page with the latest story about Hay School and the development project.
I see that they report that Simon Hoare, the spokesman for Gaufron Developments, has said that Plan B for Hay is "not fully informed". If that's his concern, maybe he should have thought to fully inform the people of Hay of their plans?
Apparently, the meeting between Powys Council, the developers, the town council, school governors, the Chamber of Commerce "and others" will take place on Monday.

The town of Hay is being sold down the river right in front of our eyes by Powys Council, the Hay Sports and Community Association (what a joke that is), Gauffron Developments and even by our own town council, some members of which are more interested in lining their own pockets than caring about the welfare of their town. They should be ashamed of themselves.

What stupid remarks the chap from Gaufron made. Why doesn't he 'inform' us instead of keeping everything hush hush. And as for those remarks about only the wealthy shopping in Castle Street. What rot! He's obviously never been to Hay - except to look at the school and wonder where to put his bulldozers. People of all sorts, the well-off and the hard up shop in Hay, both in the local shops and in the Thursday market. And, no, it isn't expensive either.

Meanwhile . . .

Last August I got on to our lady major and asked her to organise replacing the bulb in the town clock tower. Every week I have been nagging her about it and nothing has been done. Exasperated, I collared Gareth and said this is ridiculous, can he please do something about it. So he got on to PCC who said to him "Well, who owns the clock tower?" His reply? "You do." So eventually they arranged to send someone round to fix it. Except, they came round with . . . wait for it, the 'wrong sort of bulb'.

So here we are five months later, with a clock tower beautifully lit up with Christmas lights kindly provided by our Chamber of Commerce and at the top of the clock tower an unlit clock.

This is truly pathetic. What DOES one have to do to get something done around here?

Hurrah for the power of the Life in Hay blog!

It is with great delight that I can report that Council fingers have been pulled out from wherever they were firmly stuck and that a new light bulb has been inserted in to the face of the town clock. A miracle! And it only took a mere five months.

Now, onward to much more important things such as making sure a supermarket is not built in our lovely town.

And a merry Christmas to the chap who put the new bulb in!
