The list for the election of local councillors is now out. You can get to it direct on

There are seventeen people standing for eleven places on Hay council - even though three of the present councillors are not standing again, so for the first time in several years there will be an actual contest for seats.
Several people have come forward as a result of the Plan B for Hay campaign, including Rhona Muirhead. Several candidates live on or near Broad Street - at South Bank House, and Tinto House and in Bridge Street. Ellie Spencer of the WI and scouts is also standing as an independent.
I saw Mary Fellowes this morning, and she was hoping that all these new people understand that there's more to being a town councillor than going to meetings - there's also inspecting the public toilets, and removing fly tipping down the railway line, and other things that some people might not want to do.
It looks as if it's going to be an interesting election!

Is that why said Mary Fellows goes absent for three months on a cruise?
I'll second that comment.
In eleven years of living in Hay I've yet to see a town councillor clearing up fly tipping on the railway line path. In fact I've yet to see a town councillor on the railway path.
So what time does the Town Council Bog Inspection take place then? I'd love to see that! It would take the council two years of meetings to decide whether to buy a lavatory brush!
It should be a lively election this May!
Fact finding mission. Assessing Tesco's expansion into China.
Good to see new blood coming in, it's high time for a change of personalities in the council!
Come on now ,our town councillors must have been so busy checking out the public toilets and looking for rubbish down the railway line that they haven't had time for any meetings since last September..... Check out the Hay Town Council website and look up the minutes of the last meeting... September 2011!!
What was it Councillor Lloyd said at the Plan B meeting...where have you all been for the last 20 years?
Well, where have our councillors been for the last 6 months then?
To be fair, there was a photo of Mary Fellowes and Karl Showler (both of whom have been mayor) on the front page of the B&R a few years ago, on the railway line - so they do go down there!
What were they up to? I think we should be told!
I think they were cutting a ribbon - possibly opening the cycle path or something similar.
the fact no one wanted to challenge the county councillor speaks volumes though, the town council with all the good will in the world are dealing with the minor side of things.
Do I smell a rat? Rob Golesworthy standing for Gwernyfed and Mary Fellowes standing for Bwlch in the upcoming county council elections....are our Sports Association trustees trying to increase their chances of pushing through their supermarket/care home plans?
Probably. And who do you think is manipulating the strings on these two puppets?
It's all pretty obvious when you think about it.
can someone please explain why councilors from England Clifford/Cusop are standing for elections in Wales ???????????????
What on earth have the good folk of Blwch done to deserve Maggie Fellowes
The area of Hay and District extends for a radius of three miles from Hay which is why people from Clifford and Cusop qualify to stand for election.
There is no such a thing as Hay and district your completely wrong, those in Clifford have their own parish council and so does Cusop , Hay is called Hay town council not Hay and district, those in ,Clifford and Cusop are not eligible to vote in a Welsh council election , so best they stick to their own parish without interfering in another Welsh affairs
