More News on the Phone Mast

Posters have appeared around town, with more details about the proposed O2 phone mast on Forest Road - though I don't know who's put them up.
They state that planning law procedure has been breached by the BBNP, and add details of the possible effects of being close to the microwave radiation put out by these masts. In the case of the school, of course, the children will have no choice but to be close to the mast for long periods of time. It isn't proved that the effects will be bad for the children (and adults! Let's not forget the teachers) but a report in 2000 recommended caution in siting the masts, and submissions to the House of Commons Welsh Affairs committee stated that the pulsed microwave technologies have not been pre-tested for safety.
Another problem with the phone mast radiation is that it might be linked to the drastic fall in the bee population, which could affect the entire food chain, as it relies on bees for pollination.

Personally, I'm undecided about the dangers to health, not having looked at the research yet, but here is another case of the National Parks ignoring their own rules and making decisions that affect everyone living in the area without consultation.

If anyone is concerned about the phone mast, it is recommended that people should contact the Hay Town councillors, and there is an address to write to:

I've tried to comment on this before. Hope this works.

One wonders "how close to the school ?". There is an inverse square law of radiation power from a mast - meaning in simple terms the power level falls off very rapidly after a few metres.

Whereas the actual phone is right next to your ear and may have to generate several watts of power there to transmit back to the mast. Paradoxically having a mast nearer means less of this local phone power - which HAS been shown to affect the brain (but not necessarily adversely.

No offence but John's comment is as he has described it "simple terms" ie a very crude argument. This subject is far more complex and not just a matter or a one-size fits all theoretical argument. It is best to get information from Experts like Olle Johansson, Expert in Microwave Radiation for 40 years(Karolinska University), Professor M-Al Salemeh who has written a book on the subject called "Waves & Fields of Wireless Communication". I have been collecting research for 8 years and know that the theory that a signal becomes less as you move away from the Mast is simply not true as the Mast throws out a main beam which is at a particular distance. Also the fact that the voltage is low matches with our own biology & by sympathetic resonance will either entrain or disrupt our own biological systems. Further, it is recognised there is a "window" of frequencies, and separately a "window" of voltages which have detrimental effects. On the leaflet you will have seen the Rimbach study which I highly recommend reading.
