Drinks and Entertainment at the Castle

Hay Castle has applied for a drinks and entertainment license - the sign is up on the castle gate opposite the car park.
They want to serve alcohol from 10am to midnight (outdoors) and until 2am indoors as a regular thing, with entertainment (plays, music etc.) for the same hours.
During the Festival, this would increase - they want 7am to 4am (indoors).
They also want to serve Late Night Refreshments from 11pm to midnight outdoors and until 2am indoors as a regular thing.

If anyone has any comments, the address to contact is:
The Licensing Officer
Powys County Council
Public Protection
The Gwalia
Ithon Road
Llandrindod Wells
LD1 6AA

and the closing date for comments is 25th April.

Great. Because Hay needs another licensed premises. The pubs are already quiet throughout winter, this isn't going to help!

Thank you for posting Hay Castle's premises licence notice. Since meeting with licensing officers, we have amended the application so that any outdoor events would end no later than 10:30 on weeknights and 11:00 on weekends. Residents are welcome to submit comments to the licensing board during the consultation period, and may contact haycastletrust@gmail.com at any time.

Who wouldn't be surprised to see the Haycox/Florence axis inviting an Oxfam festival 'bookshop' onto the castle grounds for the duration of the "pretension fete"?

I wouldn't.

I wouldn't be surprised at all - but I'd be dismayed. Bad enough that they sanitised the castle grounds by not having Giffords Circus and the quasi-mediaeval hippy teepee people at last year's festival. And what replaced them? Soul-less automata, nice and safe and hygienic stalls. BORING.

Go back to America asap. Hay residents do not like what you are doing to our town.

Can I remind everyone to be polite? And if you're going to say something negative, put your name to it rather than hiding behind "Anonymous".
