Poetic Campaigning

Campaigning for the local elections has got underway with a poem in praise of Gareth Ratcliffe. I saw it this evening, tied to the post near the bottom of the Pavement. It was a bit long to jot down, but the sentiments are clear - "Be Potent, Vote Rodent"!
It goes on to praise "the Rat" above those "yuppies" and "ex-students" of Plan B.
It seems only fitting that politics in the Town of Books should be expressed in the form of poetry!

Those poems are smooth as Welsh butter,
Full of feelings the writer dared utter.
But if you vote for 'Rat',
Be quite clear on one fact -
You will surely end up in the gutter.

Someone I met today suggested that the minutes of the Council meetings should be done in blank verse in future - then people might actually read them!

Do you have to be Town councillor to be a County Councillor, and if you are elected as "your town" councillor can you stand for County in a different ward?

Now I see that there are several yellow 'Hayku' - instead of haiku! - poems stuck up around the Pavement in town. They support the new candidates rather than the Rat and his gang. The poetic campaigning competition has moved on!

The Hayku's have gone:
the only example of
Quick council action?

Yellow Hayku lasted only a few hours. Now replaced by white ones. How long will they be allowed to stay for?
