For Sale

Dyfed-Powys Police are planning to sell off three police stations, including the one at Hay.

When I first came to Hay, a sergeant and several PCs were stationed in Hay, and the numbers have gradually dwindled over the years.  Does that mean that crime rates have fallen?  Or is crime dealt with differently now?

(I do remember the shock of seeing my first armed police officer in Hay, standing in Broad Street with a sub-machine gun!  Fortunately, it didn't need to be used!).

The police force say that they will operate in future in premises shared with the fire service.

The other two police stations to be closed are at Crickhowell and Llanfyllin.

Police can be contacted via Facebook and Twitter, or by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.  For the hard of hearing or speech impaired, the emergency number is 07811 311 908.  In an emergency, the number to ring is still 999.
