Donations to Charity Shops

I was in the St David's Hospice Shop the other day when the lady behind the counter was talking about one of their more unusual donations.
She was down in the stock room when a chap called down to her: "There's a black kitten in the basket here." She looked up, and thought that he looked like a farmer, though not a local farmer that she recognised, and by the time she'd got up the stairs, he'd gone.
When she went to the back of the shop and looked in the basket, there was a tiny black kitten sitting there.
She's taken it home, and was in the process of introducing it to her own two cats when I saw her (I don't think they're too impressed!).

That's an interesting way to re-home a kitten! Bound to find a good home with one of the kind people who volunteer at charity shops.

Although I would not really like to see an epidemic of unwanted animals being donated to charity shops, I wish more people would do things like this if they have pets they no longer wish to keep/cannot be bothered to keep/cannot afford to keep.

You do not have to look far to discover just how cruel and heartless some folk can be where unwanted animals are concerned. Dumping them in black sacks with the rubbish is only one such story I have read about. It is heartbreaking.

Please, anyone reading this who has an unwanted pet, or knows of someone who has a pet they wish to rid themselves of (whatever their reasons may be), please hand it in to the RSPCA/SSPCA or contact Cats Protection.

Animals trust us to keep them safe and we should not betray that trust.
