Talgarth on Telly?

In their quest to find funding to do up the old mill in Talgarth, members of the Talgarth Mill Green Energy Project have turned to the Big Lottery Fund, and a TV programme called Village SOS. Six villages will be chosen to be on the show (another candidate is Howey, near Llandrindod Wells), and someone will move into the village for a year to help them with their business idea. They've already got some money to develop their business proposals, and this could provide up to £400,000 more!

It is about time luck turned for the better in Talgarth after the closure of the Mid Wales Hospital and lack of any real industry here. Hay has seen the so called Pill Factory, it has the book trade, the Festival of Literature etc. There are a lot of good people, many from away moving into this little town as they see it has potential to revive and survive. It also is set in a very unspoilt pretty area. People here are talking to each other with hope for the future. We will eventually be up there with the likes of Brecon and Hay. We although much smaller may yet live up to it's name as the Jewel in the Black Mountains. I think we have had a bad press and ignored too long, we are an unknown as far as the rest of the UK is concerned but watch this space, we could be the anything we want as long as we all pull together.
