Wings over the Wye

I don't go walking anywhere near as much as I used to when I had a dog - but at the weekend I decided to go down to the Warren. It was a grey day, but warm enough. While I was walking along the pebble beach something made me look up - a large white bird was flying along the river, towards the town. It wasn't a swan - it had a long neck, but it was tucked back, and it had a long bill.
Someone had said that they'd seen an egret down near Hay Bridge - and here it was! I got a good look at it as it swept downstream, and then turned to disappear over the trees.
Of course, I didn't have my camera with me!

I would be grateful if you could promote our Hay Camera Club in your blog please? Many thanks, Peter Seaman.

Art in the café: local camera club launches photograph exhibition in Hay

Hay Camera Club will be exhibiting at the Richard Booth’s Book shop in Hay-on-Wye during July and August. The club which is based at Llanigon village hall has put together 30 special photographs which will be hung in the café area at the famous bookshop.
Club member Colin Lawrence said “We love taking and looking at pictures and relish finding out how to produce better images, we enjoy learning from both beginners and experts. But most important is that we are part of a club that is above all friendly”
Hay Camera Club meets most Tuesdays evenings throughout the year when the events include talks, learning events, practical sessions, competitions with other clubs including one in New Zealand. The club also organises photography trips which recently have included rallycross and delphinium fields.
Colin added “Our club is about helping us to improve our hobby. It does not matter if you are just starting (we will help you) or you are a world famous photographer (we will still offer constructive comments;) what does matter is you will be very welcome. For further information contact the club secretary, Christine Starnes on 01981 550589 or visit the club’s website at www.haycameraclub.co.uk ”
Hay Camera Club has members from both sides of the border including Golden Valley, Talgarth, Peterchurch, Clyro and Painscastle. The Club is most grateful to the staff of Richard Booth’s shop for their help with the exhibition.
