"What do these numbers mean on the cover?"
The couple asking the question were young, and they had brought a couple of old paperbacks to the counter.
"2/6, and 3/6?" they asked.
And I felt quite old, suddenly.
"That's the price!" I said. "Two shillings and sixpence, and three shillings and sixpence!"
